<< It's hard to explain.... either we have very little spark (that we

Is the cap the 'screw-in' wires or 'plug-in' wires type,
Ed ?? Check with VOM.

Top connect plug in....

Have you RE-checked that wires go to correct plug ??
[don't laugh, happens to the best of us<G>].

1,3,4,2

Have you got another cap & wire [set] you can swap in ??

No, all stuff is brand new. I am, however, getting a new coil wire. The way that the current one connects is
causing it to kink a little. I need a wire with a 90 on the cap end.

I also like WFO's question: "And you are sure you're
not grounding out the points?"

Points are connected to (-) side of the coil (per the Mallory install directions). How would one ground out the points?

Considering the number of tries [turning over] have you
checked that plugs are NOT wet ??

Yes, plugs were wet at one point, but still, the engine will not even kick over. It just cranks.

Have you tried turning the dizzy whilst cranking motor
over ?? If cam is miss-timed by a tooth or two (or more]
basic time is NOT standard. Seen that. Drove me nuts<G>.

Yes, it caused the engine to "buck" or "bind" a little, but not kick over.

Ed
