[Spridgets] Weber Help

Running a 1275cc with a DCOE 45 13 Weber (made in Italy) Dual Sidedraft
Brevettato in 59 bugeye and have suffered all summer with erratic idle speed
and inconsistent return to stable idle.

My winter project is to correct this problem.

It looks like the ball bearings in the throttle shaft need to be replaced.
Everything I read said this is a differcult repair and that I should either
replace the Carb or send it to Weber to have it repaired. (Note...I have
novice mechanical ability but willing to learn).
QUESTIONS....
1. Should I try this repair myself or should I send it back to Weber. Does
anyone have the address for Weber if I elect to send it back?
2. If I elect to purchase a new one..Do I purchase the same one and where do I
buy it at?? I seeing prices from $399 up to $899. Why the large spread?
