[Spridgets] Jag engine!

Jag tie in---
I had a 95' XJ12 that the damper, balancer, thingy broke. It sheared the
rubber between the two parts. With the addition of a little oil, it was a
great bearing. It only drove the Alternator, which caused some
consternation. The alternator would work with the engine at idle and no
load. Rev it up and it wouldn't. You couldn't see it very well installed to
see that it was not speeding up with the rest of the motor.
After talking the damn thing out three times, having it rebuilt(+$220)
because we could think of anything else to do, I was under the car (on a
lift)triple checking all the wiring while I had an accomplice increase the
rpm and I noticed that it didn't appear to be turning the same speed as
everything else. In fact with all the lights on it was very slowly
rotating.. I could grab the belt and stop it.

Jag want almost $900 for a new one, salvage was half the price on new. Found
a guy in Eugene who re-poured it for $76.

One can also have the damper rebuilt. See the Damper Doctor
http://www.damperdoctor.com/

Much less expensive than a new one, assuming that the old pulley is in
decent shape.
NFI, etc. I have not actually used them as my new damper is Cooper S style
from MiniSpares. (it doesn't say "Maniflow" on it, however!)
