[Spridgets] Polishing Stainless

Vigil,
I've never polished those pieces (my car is later and does not have
them), but have polished the occassional stainless motorcycle bits at a
friend's garage. He uses one of the white cloth wheels mounted on his grinder.
On that white wheel, you put jewelers rouge - there are probably other
polishing compounds too - but this is what I've used on his wheel. If you can
you dis-assemble so you're dealing with the metal pieces alone, you are
probably better off. I'm sure others from the list will chime in and say what
they've done on these specific pieces to help you out.

BTW - I have a friend
with a body shop who has a really cool polishing kit he got from Eastwood. It
has a whole series of wheels of varying softness that allow him to make
stainless look like high-quality chrome. He chucks them into an air tool and
achieves amazing results. I think it was a pretty pricey kit, though. A bit
much for my occassional needs.
