IIRC, you might be able to change a broken stud without removing the hub. You'll have to remove the brake disc (front) or drum (rear). Drive broken part out (in, actually) with hammer/punch (wear eye protection). Set new stud in hole (from rear). Use a washer and thread the lug nut on with the flat shoulder toward the washer. Tighten lug nut until stud seats.
