All of the chemicals you may use are very dangerous; do this outside or in
an area with several box fans blowing thru the area. Use face shield of some
sort and don't breathe during the process. :-) ...bill in corvallis

Subject: [Spridgets] Zinc plating

I want to make a zinc electroplater for small stuff like nuts and bolts.
The stuff I'm reading on the Net says to use zinc chloride and ammonium
chloride for the electrolyte. Is this the correct stuff and if so, what
strengths and ratios? Also, how are you prepping the parts? Is
sandblasting enough or do I need to give them an acid bath?

Thanks,
Heard
