[Spridgets] wire wheels

Leo,

Having dealt with spoked wheels on motorcycles for many years and having
wires on my Midget I can say definitely painted and for the following
reasons:

1. Painted are way easier to clean and refurbish if you are doing the work
yourself. Chromed spokes WILL rust and are a cast iron B*#ch to get all the
rust off. I have gone to using stainless steel spokes on my old motorcycles
for exactly that reason. It is very easy to bead blast old painted wheels
and rattle can paint them so they look new again. Don't even have to re-lace
and true the wheels that way.

2. Painted are cheaper!! No wire wheel outlasts a solid wheel. The splines
get worn, the spokes (if not kept up) go out of tune and eventually break
and they are a B*#ch to re-lace and true even if you have the special jig.
Face it... If you drive a wire wheel car a lot you will eventually have to
replace the hubs and the wheels. The cheaper painted wheels make more sense
unless money is no object - and if it isn't - what the heck are you doing
with restored Spridgets anyway?!

Just my $.02 worth and probably worth as much

Cheers!!
