You need to check with your insurance company about liability.
Just because they have written you a policy does not mean you are covered
doing canyon jumping ...or carrying someone on other than a car seat.
Most states have laws against carrying riders on the body of a car.
Sure, nothing's going to happen  ...unless your foot hits the gas pedal when
you're expecting the brake or clutch.
Also, the lady needs a grab bar or handle ...look at the Rose Parade
princesses; they are usually tied to the float. ...bill, the spoil sport

All kidding aside. Why couldn't a temporary wood support be made to spread  
out the load in this area
and relieve all questions. Something of 1/2" ply would bend just enough to  
conform to the sheet metal
while providing support.... Maybe some double stick tape to keep it from  
sliding. Then brace it to the
floor board with a similar flat piece of ply to spread the load.
