We have to remember why they let the pros play.  Canada and the US got tired
of loosing to everyone else's (especially the Soviets) pros. Once we let our
pros in things leveled off. Same thing was true for Basketball....   That's
why 1980 was such a huge deal...  Our kids beat their pros...     When I was
playing juniors we used to have to do exhibitions with the Soviet and Czech
pros.  That was a little more fair, but not much.
