It's either that or you're vapor locking the carb.  Got the heat shield in
place?

Paul suggestion is a good one especially if you recently replaced the cap
since new caps are not vented.  I would also look at the fuel filter to see
if you are getting and sediment in the tank possible clogging the filter or
parts of the carb.
