Michael,

Go to: http://www.mcmaster.com/#rubber-sheets/=66a51p

This page has all kinds of rubber sheet and thicker pad material in many
lengths, widths, and thickness. There is a durometer chart at the bottom to
help choose hardness.

I teach metal smithing and we use leather bags filled with shot and sand to
form copper and other metals. Just make sure they aren't filled too full or
they have no give.

Subject: [Spridgets] Rubber pad

My father used to shape copper sheet with hammers over a fairly heavy rubber
pad. I have been looking online for such a pad for shaping small curved
patch pieces in sheet steel. I have seen pictures of sandbags for this
purpose, but am not able to find a suitable rubber pad. Any suggestions?
