I have it apart. . and I see that when the throw out bearing reaches the
clutch splines that it is a bit off center.

Is there any room for the bearing to hit the clutch splines off center a
bit?  As this could also be an issue, as you mentioned of having too long of
a slave rod.

To add, I might be running a throw out fork from a smooth case.  Are the
smooth case throw out forks different for the ribcase with a 1275?

(Thanks for the measurements on the slave rod. .  I will check that as
well).
