[Spridgets] No LBC - Road conditions

David,

I also travel often on the LIE but have found the time of day and place has a huge impact on the likelihood of getting stopped. At 4 AM in the morning you can cruise at 80 and no one cares, however try driving east during late morning around exit 56 and you can get stopped if over 70. I got a ticket for 71 when all the cars were all going the same speed. Not even in a 2 seater but my wife's SUV. Cop did not care, said the classic line tell it to the judge.

OK Ron - Rush hour doesn't count... :-)
I have found that the LIE in
non-rush hour traffic generally settles in at 75 or
80mph - at least it is
like that once you get out of Queens. Police don't
usually bother you unless
you are driving dangerously. Use your signals, change
lanes one at a time,
don't tailgate, and the police are usually also doing about
the same speed
and leave you alone. Parkways are usually running about 70mph (I
think they
are 60mph limits).

So - on LI
where you are,
the LIE was 55 and I never got over 20.
