I looked at that possibility.
.
Here in WA state, current plates are white with a background image of a snowcapped mountain.
Plates fron the '50's and '60's were plain green with the year embossed into the plate.
If I want to go that route, under the State 'antique and/or restored' rules, it has to be an original plate from that year and in good condition.
There is such a 1959 WA plate on eBay for about $50.
But the use of such a plate limits me to what driving I am permitted.
And I hate limitations !

But the idea was good.. <g>

I looked-up a plate, i.e. number series, that would have been in circulation
during a certain period. (In my case I wanted my father's first license plate.)
In your case, you could look-up the series that would have been issued in 1959.
May be obvious to everyone how it relates to your Morris, but would otherwise
complete the car's period equipment.
