[Spridgets] 948 With A Bad Smoking Problem

Let me add a little more info from several conversations Bob and I had......
He said that the oil pressure reads like 40 or 50 at idle. He
said the rockers seemed tight enough. I asked him to do a dry and wet
compression test and haven't heard back. I suggested also that he
take out the pressure relief valve plunger and spring to check that
it wasn't stuck somehow. Probably better advice would be to hook up
a separate oil pressure gauge to test. I was trying to dissuade him
from doing a re-ring job without further investigating. I'm
wondering if the oil pressure is so high that the it's getting by the
rocker bushes and filling the valve cover with oil.
     Other suggestions welcomed.
