[Spridgets] ethanol

My '65 Sprite had no problems until last year when I (stupidly) put ethanol fuel in for the last fill-up before winter.
This Spring my carbs were locked up!
After much work, I dissambled them to find greenish growths on the needles, the fuel bowl and main jets were jammed shut by similar green growths. They could easily be seen and felt by these old fingers.

My deduction...Ethanol, being hygroscopic, absorbed moisture from the atmosphere and carried it to the carbs where, upon the gas evaporating, it left the water molecules behind to enable the brass needles and jests to corrode!

An "No", I'm not a beginner at this game!
