[Spridgets] Wheel studs

Hi all,

I sent this to Phil, thought I would pass along my experience with Sleeved lug
nuts and wheel studs.

Phil,

Are you running spacer's with your rims?
If you aren't you don't want long studs.
I measured the studs and lug nuts I have.
The short studs are 1.35 inches long.
The long ones are 1.70.
The thread length is the same on both.
The extra length comes from extra shoulder length from the threads to the
part
which grabs the hub.
That extra shoulder length will extend out past the hub.
Sleeved lug nuts will bottom out on that shoulder before they snug the wheel
up.
That happened to me. I had to change out the longs ones that I put in when I
snapped them off,
back to the short ones. The lug nuts were as tight as I could get them and I
the wheels wobbled.
If you are using like 3/8 inch spacers, you might be ok.

The lug nuts I am running have a shank diameter of .618 and a length of 1.44.
The ones I bought, that don't fit my magnesium Minilites,
have shank diameter of .678 and a overall length of 1.61.
I opening for the lug nuts on my Minilites is about .62.

Racers use longer studs if they are using spacers or open lug nuts.

If the extra lug nuts i have will fit your rims, let me know,
I can't use them.
