I have often wondered why/if this matters.  Do they turn the same direction? 
If so, and the size is reasonable, I see no special reason why we could not 
just make the same kind of adaptor we do for Datsun 5-speeds.  It makes more 
sense than some of the mamouth things we have seen people put in for fun.
