[Spridgets] Flatten boot trim ?

Hello all,

Yesterday I started on a simple project, to install the new tonneau cover. Previous discussions led me to Tenax fasteners so with those on hand I began the project.

First, remove the lift-the-dot males. Bad news I can only get to the underside if the trim is removed. No big deal, 3 phillips screws or 4 maybe and it’s done. Damn, the contact cement used by one of the usuals is letting go all around the piece. So that has to be taken to the shop and re-glued. Back to taking the male lift-the-dot fasteners, the 8mm wrench I was using took a flying leap into the crease between the body panel and the inner wheel and got stuck, lift it with a screwdriver and WHEEEE off it goes to the back of the car. Now I have to take out the boot trim panel that was originally flat is now much more 3 dimensional. And hence my current dilemma, how do I get that piece flat again? Any tips or tricks? Just get it moist and hope? I have access to steam and water and time.

Thanks all,

Lester
