[Spridgets] Back again !

Hey hey Kent!Can you believe that was about 11 years ago!?!Years just fly by!I still marvel at how well that exercise went, and how cheap I got it over here for! It cost more to send from Melbourne to Brisbane by truck than it cost to get from New Jersey to Melbourne by ship and clear customs!I am doing a rebuild on that engine now.. hoping to get a bit more go out of it with some porting of the head.. did it myself over many many hours with a cheap copy Dremel and some stones, that way I couldn't ruin it fast if I went really slowly. Nothing too exotic, just basic a-la Vizard book. Found it enjoyable though and will do it again. My engine machinist said I did a decent job of it so that was nice to hear.What are you up to on the spridget front?

I am rebuilding my 1293 with one of these and am thinking to advance it a couple of degrees to about 105, from the recommended 107. ( it has a 107• Lobe Separation Angle)My main reason for this is I dont have an adjustable cam drive and my woodruff keys will give me either 105 with the standard key or about 107.5 using a 4 degree key in the retarded direction. ( the 4 deg key seems to only be about 2.5 - 3 in reality)Been off the road for about 2.5 years due to my cam belt stripping from oil seepage.Sticking with the belt though... as long as quality belts are available.I have ported my head this time around so am looking forward to seeing the results of my efforts.
