[Spridgets] Kingpin Shims

Problem solved.  When I swapped trunnions I found the problem, but it was not the trunnion exactly.  The problem trunnion was hanging up on something about an 1/8th of an inch before fully seating.  It could be tightened down before seating producing the vertical movement of the kingpin.  When I trial fitted the .008 shims, the kingpin needed three of them.  Only two and the stub axle assembly was difficult to turn. Three shims and only slight resistance.  Went to the other side of the car with my new found confidence and found that side only needed one shim.  Now with new rubber gaiters on the steering rack, new tie rod ends, new flexible brake lines and newly turned drums (yes, i am still running drums on the front) maybe parallel parking won't be such a workout.  Thanks for all the suggestions from the list, but I need to remember the common denominator in these situations is me.Mike MacLean
