Sounds like you didn't even bother reading the directions...

I have no regulator to gut.   Just 2 flat 4 wire( I think?) plastic strip connectors.   No regulator to reference to for specific connector port to location on housing.

One option is to leave the regulator in place plugs and all, gutting it of internal connections. Looks stock, easy to go back to stock for a future owner ( with a new reg), takes less work and doesn't leave empty holes in the firewall.

Question:My wire harness is a 1970 Midget harness.  It had a voltage regulator originally mounted up where spridgets had them( by the fuse box under hood)  .   I'm choosing an alternator with an internal regulator for the Midget.   I remember somewhere an article for putting an alternator in earlier generator cars.  I'm replacing an externally regulated unit with an internally regulated one.  My question is what has been done with the wires for the external regulator under the hood by others doing this swap?In my harness there are 2 molded flat plug in connectors.   I have the harness out of the car right now, so cutting and soldering can be done without having to work under the hood.  I'd literally like to wrap this up soon.Yes, I'll be rewrapping the harness to look like its not been modified when completed.  Thank youChuck
