I believe I ate 2 batteries on tenders this past winter. I would like to get a small in size, sealed battery for my Sprite because I have to remove the hood otherwise. However the sealed batteries can't be tender charged because they are sealed. What is the group using? I'm not sure if the batteries I have are any good as this is the first week I'm home long enough to check. None of my batteries are sealed. Can I assume the type of batteries I have are written on the battery or is there another test to determine which type I have? Let me understand this, the AGM battery cannot be tender charged or they will die? But not necessarily sealed? https://www.batterystuff.com/kb/articles/5-battery-types-explained-sealed-agm-gel.html Thank you kindly, Linda 62 California Sprite "Pinky" -- "Pay if forward" in honor of Frank Clarici III, Spritenut -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I am not a stockholder, not an employee, no relation with the company at all, but I have 6 of their small ones and an aviation one for my plane. https://www.batteryminders.com/ I regularly get 12-15 years out of my occasional-use batteries including Jill?s Midget, the lawn tractor, lawn mower, motorcycle (Odyssey), an old cat battery I kept to run a 12V winch, etc etc. My airplane battery cost $285 back in 2007 and I bought the aviation BatteryMinder for it then. Continuously on charge/recondition since then and still tests good 15 years later. Other pilots usually get 2 years from an aviation battery and rejoice if it?s 3 years. Those chargers have paid me back for their initial cost many times over. This is NOT a Battery Tender or Harbor Freight cheapie, or anything else that sounds like the same thing. The difference that matters between a VLRA and a flooded battery is the volts per cell. Typical charge voltage for a flooded battery is 2.5Volts per cell. Recommended MAX for GEL/AGM is 2.4V per cell. Thus, the wrong charger or setting will overcharge and damage the battery. So I am poking around for SU AUD 136 carbs to fit my 1098 junkyard motor that came with no carbs.? I found some on Ebay that looked ok in pictures and bought them, a few hours later the seller said he didn't have them, that was a old listing that Ebay had put back up accidentally. ?There are a few other listings, some missing parts and one saying many moveable parts are stuck, well that is what was wrong with a set a carbs i got from a friend, everything stuck and too badly corroded to ever work again...major pits in venturi area by the butterflies on one and pistons on both...way too bad for a rebuild. ?There are some on ebay that claim to be rebuilt for a 1098cc motor but they are not AUD 136's so I am not sure what will and will not work, they all kind of look the same to me, I just know my motor had AUD 136t's originally. ?Anyone have a set to sell ? ideally something with nothing frozen and a decent throttle shaft since I don't have the ability to ream and put bushings in (although i know there are o-ring shafts now that may solve that problem). ?I do have a manifold, not sure its the right one but it fits, it does not have the port for the PCV valve which I think is correct for 1098, this is not a show car, I just want a good driver.?? I have seen that Mo$$ has new ones...yike$ and there is a advantage to that since I would not need to buy a rebuild kit. ???? The HS2's are all pretty similar and any will work no matter what the AUD number. Worn throttle shafts can be fixed 99% of the time by simply replacing the throttle shaft. The carb body itself does not wear out, only the shaft. So no worries about installing bushings. I buy carb rebuild kits from MiniSpares in England for considerably less than what the guys here in the US sell them for. The kits genuine SU parts and are very complete with new throttle shafts, throttle plates, etc. Shipping is very fast and not too expensive. They use DHL Express for shipping and stuff ordered from them usually arrives in 3-4 days rather than the 7-10 days when ordering from Moss. I agree that a single HIF is probably the best way to go BUT this is not going into a Spridget or Mini and I just don't have the clearance. ?I tried the HIF that we took off my son-in-law's MkI Mini that has a 1275 in it and no there was no room on the side for it.? People in the UK that have done this engine swap have said, there is barely enough room for some pancake filters and others have said you have to use what I call the little rock guard that is not really a filter.? I have cut the engines front plate to move the engine over as far as I can and center it in the chassis and also keep the driveshaft pretty straight,? but it will still be tight. ?My Son-in-law's twin SU's from his Mini look like they will fit, I am still "fiddling" with the body and engine mounts so have some play room.? With a HIF I will have to bump out the hood sides right where there are some louvers. ?Its all going into a 1934 Singer Le Mans.? This is engine swap that while not common, has been done quite a bit in the UK. ??? mike ? New LED lights all the way around, every possible bulb is now LED. Had to rework the Rabbit radiator conversion, but that is all squared away. Also had to rework the throttle connection to my DFV carb, to make a new cable mounting plate and get a better return spring solution in place. I should have everything in place to get the car inspected this weekend and get current registration once again. Then the fun begins. The paint and body work will start. In the meantime, I'm thinking of the interior. My car is a '69 Sprite, so the seat frame does not have accommodations for a headrest. The interior kit I have is for 70-79, and came with headrests. Looking at pics of seat frames, it appears that I can fabricate the piece for the frame that holds the headrest in place. Anyone familiar with this, and has anyone tried it? Some close up pics of a 70s Midget seat frame would help. Greg Gowins Driftwood, TX -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I don?t know how thick the back is on a ?69. If it?s a lot thicker than the ?68 and has the spring loaded back, then the 70?s upholstery should fit. ?68 & 70 are different seats, and the mounting rails & holes are also different. You?ll have to figure out which style a ?69 was more like. I had forgotten that the later seats could lock. When you are talking about thicker, do you mean the cushions or the actual frame? The interior kit came with all new seat foams and webbings, so I should be good there. I think you got the pics you sent me from the same place I saw them. I tried to zoom in to get some detail on the piece on the frame for the headrest, but the original image size was too small.
