Spridgeteers and other references to our Sprite Name Sake!
Happy 4th to all my Spritely friends. In the past I have had a lot of fun making up alternative names on the base root "Sprite" from the creation of Donald and Geoffrey Healey. I thought I would share what the dictionary/internet says about Sprite and share a tribute to Donald Healey's Birth:
sprite
American [sprahyt]/ spraɪt /Or spright
noun
sprites
-
(in folklore) an elf, fairy, or goblin.
noun
-
(in folklore) a nimble elflike creature, esp one associated with water
-
a small dainty person
I Guess I used "Have a Spritely life" as a corruption of sprightly life, which I think our favorite ride is more than ever knowing it's advance age of 68 years old (younger than many of it's owners / Racers)
adjective
sprightlier, sprightliest
-
animated or vivacious; lively.
- Synonyms:
- spry, buoyant, blithe, spirited
adverb
-
in a sprightly manner.
sprightlyBritish / ˈspraɪtlɪ /
adjective
-
full of vitality; lively
Etymology
Origin of sprightly
1590–1600; spright (spelling variant of sprite ) + -ly
