[Tigers] ...body modifications...

Some interesting concepts, Cullen.

Okay, let me pose this one. Do you consider my race car, the N: 9 Le Mans
Tiger, a Tiger? Hmmm, let's see. It began life as a Series III Alpine. The
tub, cowl, most of the wings and nose were saved. Then a unique windscreen
and alloy coupi body was fit. The original bonnet and doors were pitched and
replaced with alloy bits. Later, after Le Mans in '64 it was fit with a 289
motor and yup, the bulkhead was notched out to fit the Weber 48 IDAs. Most
all this took place when there were only the two prototype cars made. So, is
it a "Tiger"?

Or how about this one. Since it (and the mule and sister race car) preceded
the production "Tigers" maybe they are the real Tigers and the production
Tigers and the phony ones. :>))

Ah, stirring the pot and such silliess.

Darrell

Wow....that's a pretty interesting idea, that the removal of 8 inches of
metal off the under hood side of the car completely changes its
identity. Not sure I agree with that. I agree that a person could take
enough away that eventually you wouldn't have a Tiger....like an extreme
case is carrying around a VIN plate in your pocket doesn't mean you're a
Tiger owner, but I would think it would take more than the
aforementioned firewall modifications. The HSC Tiger has a lot more
modification than that, 5 lug, engine bay ventilation cutouts, modified
windshield, power increases.....and I consider it very much a Tiger.
Just because a famous race car builder/driver in history made the
modifications shouldn't mean he's exempt from the concept under
discussion.

Interesting, well that's the good part about this interest...everyone is
entitled to their own thoughts on the matter....
