Hi Steve,
Yes, you can just reposition the needle.

Disassemble it.
Move the needle up to 68.  While holding it there from the backside, move the needle up to 75.
Reassemble and reinstall.

BUT, be very careful.. if it won't move, don't bend it for instance.  The needle is just force fit
to the shaft, if it won't  move as above, you may need to remove it first by pulling it straight
out.  But to do that, be even MORE careful.

My speedo works fine mechanically but only shows about 68 or so when I'm 

really going 75. I've verified the reading differential with two modern 

cars and comparing speed readings by cell phone.



One of the comments (in either the Tigers United article or an email) 

suggested just re-positioning the speedo needle. How does that work? Do 

you just gently pull the needle off its spindle and reposition it a bit?



I've paid to have the speedo re-calibrated a couple of times but it's 

still nowhere near accurate.
