[Tigers] trunk spring boots

Hello,
 
I visited the site of the "person" selling Alpine parts at  astronomical 
prices.
 
I noticed something that I'd never seen before:
 
Trunk hinge spring BOOTS or GLOVES.
 
Did Tigers have them originally? I bought my car in 76 and they were not  
there. Never noticed them on another guy's Tiger OR Alpine.
 
As I don't have a BON, can original owners or BON owners set me straight,  
please?
