[Tigers] Instrument Illumination color

The inside of my tach was painted half light blue and half white, probably for balancing of light output to front of gauge. I am guessing the speedo would be the same. Since the paint was starting to flake in a few places, I repainted it a fresh gloss white all over prior to reassembly. I could not believe how much brighter it is compared to the other instruments, using the same oem bulb. 

I suspect the amber light you are seeing from the other gauges is due much in part to the aging of the original painted colors of the interior and the low quality of light from the original type incandescent bulbs. Your rebuilt speedo probably has a more modern bulb giving you the greenish white color. It is easy enough to try a different bulb. BTW, I think all but one of the bulbs in my dash are the originals from when the car was new (bought it in 1967)!

If I remember right the inside of my speedo was painted a light blue (I 
think). I am saving my pennies to get some of the dash lights that would 
make them more bright. See the offerings at http://www.lbcarco.com/. 

They have all different sizes made to fit our little cars.

Just had my speedo rebuilt by Nisonger. They did a nice job, but it came 
back with different backlight illumination. All the other gauges are an 
amber color. The rebuilt one is bluish green. I'm pretty sure the other 
gauges have been rebuilt since new. What is the correct color and does 
anybody else have amber backlight illumination or is the greenish white 
correct?
