[Tigers] Short Sh(r)ift

My $.02 on a short shifter.  I have only experienced it on my Boxster.
 There are those that swear by it.  I HATED it.  Yes, it was shorter, but
it became really stiff and notchy.  And I'd wager that with the extra
effort needed to shift it, I don't think the time in shifting was that much
shorter, if at all.  Besides, sometimes its the movement of the leg and
clutch that takes up more time in the shift - and further, I question
whether the fraction of a second it might change would have any impact in a
race.

So, since I absolutely love the bolt-action feel of the shifter on the
Tiger, I wouldn't even think of messing with it.  Again, this is my own
opinion.

As to the Boxster, sadly when you take out the stock shifter, you have to
break some rings that Porsche doesn't sell separately.  I ended up
purchasing a factory 911 shifter which fit right in, but has a slightly
shorter and firmer feel, nothing like the aftermarket one that everyone
buys.  So, in the end, I was actually happier and glad for the change.
 Ironically, the factory 911 shifter was HALF what the aftermarket shifter
was.
