Sorry, I ment to say flex head ratchet with the plug socket, not flex head ratchet wrench, although with the right kind of spark plug socket with a hex on the back end, I guess that would work. But, I like the longer shaft on my flex head socket ratchet for being able to reach things easier.

I have found that using a flex head ratchet wrench very helpful. The plugs are in at an angle and the ability to vary the angle of the ratchet shaft really helps as you try to break them loose and remove.. 


Sometimes for me the bigger challenge is getting the new ones in without cross threading. I remember a helpful hint from somewhere is to use a short length of hose over the the tail end of the spark plug. That gives you a little extra length to help position the plug in the angled hole. (Also helps you to avoid dropping the back plugs, which can lead to having to check and regap it if it falls through and hits the floor. Irritating.....) 


With the hose on the tail of the plug can twirl the hose by hand to get the plug started. A socket and ratchet right away can lead to cross threading before you realize it. At least for me.

Which are the hardest spark plugs to change? I'd like to tackle those first. 
I don't want to do the easy ones (if there are any) and then get to the hard 
ones and find I can't do them and end up disabling the car until I can get 
them done. I'm actually looking forward to the challenge. I've had to devise 
some pretty tricky tool set ups to get at difficult bolts before. As dad 
would frequently say, you really need at least two elbows on each arm, and 
eyes on your fingertips to do certain things on English cars.
