Allan is correct.   I wiped my black looking letters with Windex and they are now red letters.

Hello,

 

I've cleaned a few of the black lettered fender badges to reveal red letters.

 

This makes me curious whether the lettering was painted red originally and subsequently turns black from age, dirt and "patina."
