Here is a older email from David

Note:

I found an old email from David Franchi that may help.

The original dip stick & tube measurements are:

Stick - 24 7/16" from the tip to the inside top of the "bell" cover/dust guard. Oil "add" mark 1 1/8" from tip, oil "full" mark 2" from tip.

--

Tube - 15 15/16" overall.

14 3/4" from the top of the "stop/seating ring" (were it goes into the timing gear cover) to the top of the tube

7 5/16" from the top of the tube to the center of the "mounting wing"

With the stick installed in the tube, the tip of the stick protrudes 9 1/2" out of the end of the tube. (measured from the tip of the stick to the bottom of the tube "stop/seating ring") David Franchi

The long handle Tiger dip stick is a standard Ford part (originally from a 1962 Fairlane, it was used on early small block Fords until around early 1965) with the handle bent to clear the Tiger hood.

The short handle (finger pull) Tiger dip stick is the same as the long handle, except Rootes cut off the handle and had it made shorter, this is easy to do with a jig (I have done it without any problem)

The tube is a Ford part C2OZ-6754-A, it has to be bent slightly to fit the Tiger. Neither are available from Ford, but they are reproductions available made for early Mustangs etc.

When I got my engine back from a high performance machine shop, they happily pointed out the new chrome dipstick and dipstick tube they had obtained and installed in the process. Unfortunately this will not fit correctly as you can imagine. Mysteriously although they had returned some other parts, the dipstick was missing and the old tube battered to the point of no use. I am hoping to find a solution…….not sure if anyone has ever made a pattern of the original tube or has any ideas. Thanks.

Rick
