After bragging about how I could so easily manuever the welding cart around
the shop I have to say that now things are back to normal.  I was welding in
a shoulder strap tube in Killer's roll bar, made an ugly mess in one spot
and went to get the grinder to remove the evidence.  Got the grinder out of
the drawer, removed the knobby wire brush and went to put on the grinding
disk.

Short version is simple: the grinding disk, backing plate and securing nut
needed were in three widely seperated locations, which took nearly an hour
to discover.  You can relax now, the earth is still spinning in the same
direction, I haven't destroyed the order of the universe.
