Not unreasonable, if the wire is sized for it.  Fuses are to protect the
wires, not the devices connected to them.

That said, you probably could go smaller, if you're certain you'll never use
a high power device (like say, a powered beer cooler) in the socket.

But if the wire will handle 20 amps without damage, why bother?
