The TR2-3 workshop manual has a very brief section on reconditioning the
generator commutator (page M-8), perhaps that is what you were thinking of?

But reconditioning the commutator for a DC generator or motor (same thing,
really) is a very standard operation.  You should be able to find any number
of references that give the procedure, without being specific to Lucas
generators.
