[TR] TR250 engine dying issue - suggestions?

The TR did a 4-hour trip last week running great. It still runs great - 
EXCEPT twice on our last drive while slowing downhill for stop sign or 
turn, the engine speed dropped, engine died and my husband had to pop 
the clutch to keep it going.

Fuel pump, which caused problems last year, failed under acceleration, 
not deceleration.

Any ideas?
