[TR] TR6 ammeter

We are having a discussion on how a TR6 ammeter should read.
Mine has always shown a charge when running, although less once it has run a
bit, and as I turn on more equipment it shows a greater charge.
Some say that is wrong. It should show less of charge as you turn on equipment
and almost no charge once it running along and the battery is charged.  They
say as you turn on more equipment it may blip to charge for a bit but should
settle back to indicating a minimum charge.
How do yours work?  What is correct?
