[TR] Gimme Shelter

Last winter I stored my TR6 in a metal hanger at the local airport and I was amazed at the condensation/corrosion damage on the carbs and engine (not bad, but extensive). The hanger had a concrete floor, but I think that the constant temperature changes from the metal walls and roof caused a great deal of condensation. I did not have that problem when I’ve stored the car in a wooden building.

Like other have stated, snow will be a real issue in any fabric structure. I just retrieved a camper from a barn with a dirt floor and found that in just a few months down here in Florida I now have a LOT of mold inside. Almost ruined the old airstream. Alternatively, I left a AH 3000 in a cement floor building for 3 years while in Guam many years ago. Had it on blocks, drained all fuel etc. Came back, filled the fuel tank, put a battery in and topped off the tires and drove off.

I seem to think there was a second collapse several years after that. And we all know that you never get any snow in Maine! Also, be aware that there will be plenty of moisture working its way up from the ground and into the tent. You may want to consider laying down a moisture barrier first. Tek Supply is another outfit that sells a variety of tents and fabric buildings, many of them intended to be used as horse and cow barns. They may have something sufficiently strong. www.TekSupply.com <http://www.teksupply.com/> Buyer Beware!
