Normanville ?Volvo? J Type OD installed. I know because the J OD came from my personal stores. I donated that to the Uncle Jack build to convert a rapidly sourced and donated transmission after the original sourced J OD 4 speed transmission disintegrated on its maiden test drive. The only issue was the Volvo uses a different output flange on the output shaft which needs to be changed to a Triumph flange to allow the Triumph (Prop) drive shaft to be bolted up. The standard drive (prop) shaft for a 4 speed then is a direct bolt up without modification. The only drive (prop) shafts modifications I have seen are going from an automatic to a manual, the automatic drive (prop) shaft needs to be replaced with a manual style, which are indeed rare in the US, but can be fabricated. I have a kit of Bilstein shocks which were designed to be a replacement for the NLA Traction Master "traction bars" which prevent rear spring wind up on solid axle cars. This kit was designed by a Bilstein shock engineer for Healeys and solid axle TRs. Since spring wind up is all but eliminated, acceleration is much faster. And axle "hop" or "tramp" is eliminated under hard braking, so the car is more stable when you jump on the binders. Their advice was that I should try different locations with the float chamber vent. Their recommendation was to 'try the vents forward and rear diagonally, if this didn't help to try two forward then try two rearward.' Moving the float chamber vent did fix the problem" Roger On 4/10/2022 1:58 PM, dave northrup wrote: FYI ? this is the answer to my question. Does it at all fuel tank levels. So I have an AC Delco 10si alternator in my 1953 Morgan +4 (similar engine block as a TR3) that I bought from Triumph Rescue. It only mounts at one point at the front of the engine and it shakes a lot. I have tried tightening the mounts and tightening and loosening the belt to see if that helps. It is also a pain to put in or remove from the cramped engine compartment of the Morgan. Previously I had had a DynoAlt (alternator in a Lucas generator case), but it kept burning out so I went with Triumph Rescue in a clinch. In the old days of about 10 years ago I used a Bosch alternator from a 1980 Ford Fiesta in my other Triumphs. Those are pretty much unicorns these days. I have been thinking of trying a REMY 13107 from RockAuto or my local auto parts store. It has mounting ears front and rear like a Lucas generator or the old Bosch alternators so it should be a better mount. Has anyone fitted one of these? Any issues? Does it fit the TR3 generator mount? 1980 FORD FIESTA 1.6L 98cid L4 Alternator / Generator | RockAuto ??? TIA, ???? Bill Brewer ???? After some investigation, it appears there is a problem at the rear of the transmission (Toyota Supra 5 speed) preventing the speedometer cable from spinning. Rather than troubleshoot the transmission, I installed a GPS speedometer, bypassing all the cables and problems. On this speedometer, I have been able to spin the dial using a drill and the unit has the trip reset cable. Selling for 110.00. I can sent photos to anyone interested. Just a note - the GPS speedometer was FAR more expensive than $110.00. Frank Burkhart frburkhart at gmail.com 415.515.1945 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... If New you are stuck with shipping them in a box similar as used with CV axles, you are going to pay $70-$100 for the pair. If they can be disassembled, they each will fit in a 12?x12? flat rate ?large box? but caveat you will need more internal reinforcement like 1/8? compressed board and a LOT of stabilization packing because otherwise the boxes will not withstand a coast-t0-coast shipping. If in the event you are thinking prop drive shaft, it is not worth shipping vs a driveshaft service & manufacturing shop. For a prop shaft all you need are the complete flange ends that are welded into the tube ask the seller to Sawzall . A good driveshaft shop will select a correct length of steel tube, weld on the ends, balance and rebuild the universal joints for less cost than shipping from Florida. Half shaft axles, shipping those is different as I noted in my previous email. So is it axles or prop drive shafts?
