I have a separate ground for each motor mount. If NO ground you will melt the choke cable.
No dash lights. All the lamps you are looking for meet at hot side of the rotary dash dimmer.

I think I can use a compressor to test a brake light switch for a TR3A. how much pressure? Is 35 pounds too much?

Isn't there supposed to be a ground strap from the engine block to the body somewhere?

Good point. it wouldn't. But the information offered was a bit sparce. Is it just the tail lights and do the brake turn signal lights work?
I believe there is a fuse for those lights somewhere in the harness. It was a dealer upgrade at some point. Later TR's have a fuse in the fuse block for that.

The brake lights work as do the turn signals. All gauges work as does
the heater fan. Only the tail lights and dash lights do not work. I
believe there are only 2 fuses for the car, correct? I've replaced
them both. I can find no loose wires under the dash. The wiring
harness was replaced 2 years ago with a high quality harness.
Everything worked until the paint job.

I believe there is a fuse for those lights somewhere in the harness.
It was a dealer upgrade at some point. Later TR's have a fuse in the
fuse block for that.

The TR6 definitely does.? And I recall reading that the TR3 had an issue where the tail lights were susceptible to damage from other cars,? being mounted so low, that the red wire could get grounded out and when the lights were switched on the harness would melt causing potential fire so the factor at some point put in an in-line fuse just for such an occurrence.
In fact, a quick Google search shows several sources indicating that fact and the location of the fuse (although the location varies from passenger footwell and under hood next to the voltage regulator.
But the fact remains that if the tail lights AND the dash lights are not working it is likely a common feed point interruption which could be a fuse or a dodgey bullet connector.

I believe there is a fuse for those lights somewhere in the harness.? It was a dealer upgrade at some point.? Later TR's have a fuse in the fuse block for that.

As you may have seen in a previous post, many (most?) TR3's and TR3A's had a fuse added to this circuit to protect against accident damage to the tail lights causing a short circuit.? This in-line fuse may be in the passenger footwell or under hood near the voltage regulator.

I believe there is a fuse for those lights somewhere in the harness.? It was a dealer upgrade at some point.? Later TR's have a fuse in the fuse block for that.

Replace them, shorten them or buy spacers. Spacers are my preferred route as the wheels sit out a little more.
The interference isn?t with the spacers ? if you don?t deal with the studs issue they will hit the wheels themselves.

Allan ? are you saying the front side lights / running lights and headlights are working normally?
Are you absolutely sure the dash lights aren?t working? Sometimes it can be hard to see. Park the car in the garage and go out when it is dark to check them.

The brake lights work as do the turn signals. All gauges work as does the heater fan. Only the tail lights and dash lights do not work. I believe there are only 2 fuses for the car, correct? I've replaced them both. I can find no loose wires under the dash. The wiring harness was replaced 2 years ago with a high quality harness. Everything worked until the paint job.

I believe there is a fuse for those lights somewhere in the harness. It was a dealer upgrade at some point. Later TR's have a fuse in the fuse block for that.
