Triumph Owners, Stag Owners and Enthusiasts ;
So thinking about this, it is probably time for Triumph Stag owners in North America to come back
out from under their rocks and once again, open more frequent dialog and communication for where the
Stags are in North America and encourage them to get running and driving.
One central focus is the new and all member owned Triumph Stag Club of the Americas
https://tscoa.org/ now reorganized and operated out of California by enthusiasts' owners who are
actually friendly and do not want to screw you over (yes old wounds) for your dues and loyalty. But
I do not seem to hear much North American Triumph Stag chatter on the various lists, some of
Facebook, some on The Triumph Experience.
Many years ago, I once had a mission before I quit the previous TSCUSA organization, to locate
every Triumph Stag in North America, record their data and disposition into a database. Much of
that have been carried on by enthusiasts through the new TSCoA, but we are all getting older and
need to focus on hacking back the weeds, opening the sheds and barns, dusting off the hidden gems
pulled out of the muck, seeing if those parts and vehicles can be saved and somehow logging their
locations or getting the information and possibly parts to some secure location not scheduled for a
high rise apartment complex. Sure, that has some pie-in-the-sky elements.
I look at what happened to Wayne Bier at Triumphs Only, Walter Holliday at Stag Specialists, Eight
Parts, and the caches of Triumph Stag parts in Toronto Canada, the US North East and Pacific NW, not
to mention the cache being squandered in Pennsylvania purchased by the old club members' dues and
held hostage for ransom. Stag Specialists cache was purchased by Rimmers and shipped off to the UK.
Triumphs Only cache, was or is sort of in limbo, but I recall Wayne is in the Philippines. In
Colorado, Sportscar Craftsmen in Arvada, owned and operated by Paul Diershol has many shipping
containers with lots of LBC parts and some Stag parts also but not really fully inventoried.
Many enthusiasts have their sheds of parts, and some of those sheds will go to the scrap heap
shredded when the enthusiast turns to dust and their estate is liquidated. That almost happened to
LD2UBW, and it was my forceful digging and prodding and sleuthing that uncovered it in Illinois so
it could be rescued, properly restored and shown at North American Triumph Events as a Triumph
Flagship showpiece.
North American Enthusiasts need to leverage the technology of the day, get an online locator system
that can catalog Triumph Stag parts and the vehicles in real-time by enthusiasts in North America
without spam, scammers and grifters.
I don't want to have this conversation under [TR] brackets in the Team.net when it should be a forum
discussion in TSCoA. I'll plant that seed but it needs to be nurtured by more younger enthusiasts.
That was the type of thing Triumphstag.net was doing with a parts repository database before Richard
Welty's Krusty Motorsports was hacked and crashed. Triumphstag.net can be revived to its former
glory under TSCoA if someone wants to resurrect the saved SQL and PHP scripts and data.
So don't reply to this post and say "I know where this UNF bolt is for a Stag", but rather, gather
as much information you can muster and then let's see about creating a live database to collect that
data for the benefit of Triumph Stag Enthusiasts, maybe inside TSCoA.org.
I'll leave it there hoping someone will pick up the ball as I'm getting too gray to drive some of
these initiatives into finished projects as I still have one last Triumph Stag project to finish on
my own.
Cheers!
