I would lightly sand it, then use McCloskey’s Spar Varnish, gloss or semi-gloss depending on your finish preference. Spar varnish is good as it resists UV yellowing better than other varnishes or urethanes. You want to allow 24 hours between coats and I’d do at least 2-3 coats. I’ve used it (with may more coats) to refinish the wood dash in my wife’s GT6 and am very happy with the results.

I installed a Motolita steering wheel about 35 years ago and it is looking pretty sad these days.



When the rainy season hits I would like to remove the steering wheel and clean it up a bit. Polish the spokes and put something over the wood to restore its look while protecting the wood. I don't want to put on something that will feel thick or remain sticky for weeks. Any suggestions on what to use?
