Classic car auction house Dan Kruse Classics recently auctioned the Dick Burdick collection from the Central Texas Auto Museum for $4.83 million. The auction, which took place March 3, in Smithville, Texas, was the first time that the entire Burdick collection of automobiles was made available for sale. The top seller of the auction was a 1930 Cadillac Model 452 Fleetwood Rumbleseat Coupe. The "Madame X" sold at $418,000. A 1934 Duesenberg Model SJ Phaeton went for $346,000. A spokesperson for the auctioneer said that a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Two Door Hardtop that sold for $88,000 was the biggest surprise of the affair.

Although Jaguar may not be racing all that much these days, motorsport competition was an integral part to forming its identity decades ago. And it's that legacy that Jaguar aims to tap into with its latest development. The British auto marque has of late been participating in numerous classic racing events, but is now intensifying and organizing its efforts under the Jaguar Heritage Racing banner. Managed for the factory by specialist firm JD Classics, the program will see the C-Type and D-Type challenging revival events at venues as varied as Goodwood, the Nurburgring and the Mille Miglia, where the initiative will make its first appearance.

A 1948 Ferrari 166 Spider Corsa will be featured at the 2012 RM Auctions Monaco sale, scheduled for May 11-12 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. A Riverton, Utah, family can't believe that someone stole a family treasure from their shed. Jeannette Hoops' father bought a 1927 Pierce Arrow Roadster in 1963. "He's always had a history of buying old cars, but this one was his favorite," she said. Back then, he paid $3,400 for it. Vintage Motor Cars says today at auction it could go for as much as $75,000. That is exactly what the family planned to do with it until it was stolen.

After its first private test held at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in California, the Nissan DeltaWing made its first public laps recently at Sebring. A scrum of onlookers, including drivers, teams and media members gathered as Marino Franchitti prepared to take the car on track. Franchitti said the car felt good through the corners, noting it "feels like a racing car" and that the vision was not much different sitting further back in the cockpit compared to cars he has previously competed in.

The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance 2012 was held March 11 on the 10th and 18th fairways of The Golf Club of Amelia Island adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island, Fla. With upwards of 300 cars in attendance, the Amelia Concours judges were tasked with a difficult job of not only picking class winners, but also awarding the Best of Show Winners. The Concours awards Best of Show for two designations: Concours d'Elegance and Concours de Sport.

Just inside the entrance to the cavernous Paris exhibition hall stood two 1962 Ferrari 250 GTOs, capitalizing on the 50th anniversary of this iconic marque and whetting the appetite for all that was to come in the 2012 European car fest known as Retromobile. Not far from that display were several other Ferraris and a 1939 Talbot-Lago T23 in barn-find condition. That's what visionaries like to call the unrestored hulks that allow everybody from millionaire collectors to street-corner mechanics to scheme and dream.
