Who knows? With global warming we may have a clear February 10 like I
think we did last year. So if you can't go out for a drive at least try
to pose by your car.

Dear Fellow Triumph Owner,

My name is Rye Livingston and I'm with the Triumph Travelers Sports Car
Club in Northern California. A few years ago I encouraged the members
or our club to drive their Triumph on February 10th, to celebrate Sir
John Black's Birthday, the man who organized Standard's purchase of
Triumph after the war, and went on to make the cars we enjoy driving today.

The concept is on February 10, go for a drive on a country road or out
to lunch, to the market, to work, where ever. Go for a drive alone,
with a spouse, buddy, child, grandchild or pet dog, maybe with a few
other Triumphs; then take a photo. The photo is mainly of the car,
ideally in front a cool spot, landmark, scenic view or even in front of
a market or hardware store. Then send me the photo with basic info:
name and place photo was taken. The photos were then published in our
newsletter.

The first year half a dozen members participated. The second year a few
more members participated. Last year I sent out the request to a
Triumph Yahoo group across the United States, and about 40 Triumph
owners sent me photos of their cars while out on a drive on February
10th. Those in the northeast USA who were snow bound with their cars
tucked away under covers in their garage for the winter, were encouraged
to go out and pose with their car in the garage. I coordinated all
the photos and sent them to The Vintage Triumph, and Mike Cook published
multiple pages of photos taken on February 10th of Triumphs around the
US, in the VTR magazine.

This year I want to make it a bigger Drive Your Triumph Day, so I'm
emailing Triumph Clubs worldwide, encouraging you to ask your members to
drive their Triumph on February 10th, take a photo, and send it to me.
I will organize them and work with Mike Cook to get them published in
The Vintage Triumph magazine, along with our club newsletter. I've set
up a special email address for your members to send me their photos:
driveyourtriumphday at gmail.com <mailto:driveyourtriumphday at gmail.com>.

Please reply and let me know if you like this idea and will promote it
to your members. Be sure to contact me with any questions you may have,
and thank you in advance for getting the message out to your members to
Drive Their Triumph on February 10th.

Regards,

Rye Livingston
