Overdrive, very nice driver quality 10 yr old resto done to a decent level. Engine fired in ether and showed good oil pressure. Very nice paint vinyl interior, mota lita wheel, some putty in typical places but not huge amounts. If you want a nice driver quality 3A that needs sorting after sitting a couple of years, this could be a great buy. I gave no interest in the sale but am trying to help the owner who is selling due serious health concerns. Call my cell if you like. Navigators will sort through photos of interesting objects found along the route, and weed out any fake pictures taken elsewhere. In addition, they will be on the lookout for the infamous Mothman ? a black winged creature allegedly seen by a hundred different people in the 13 month period prior to the collapse of the 39 year old Silver Bridge. The tragedy on the Ohio River occurred at rush hour December 15, 1967, submerging 64 people in 31 vehicles. 46 of them lost their life. The Mothman was never seen again ? until NOW!! My prophesy is that he will appear at some point during this run. We begin our quest at McDonalds on Bobby Vinton Blvd. in Canonsburg. The first half of our run will uncover the illusive Mothman to those who take up the challenge. The second half is simply a pleasant drive down WV Route 88 to Wheeling. We finish up at Generations Pub on Route 40, a spacious restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. The mid-point rest stop will be at the Sheetz on WV Route 2 just north of Wellsburg. If you?re not comfortable dining out, feel free to drive along with us on one or both of the legs before returning home on your own. We will meet in the McDonalds parking lot between 11:00 and 11:45. Driver?s meeting will take place at 11:45 sharp, with cars on their way by noon. We should arrive at the Sheetz rest stop around 1:15, and at Generations Pub around 2:30. This off peak hour will afford us easy access to seating, and more space for distancing. If you need information, or want an advance copy of the route instructions, email me at rickbrown1956 at outlook.com. Van Vlack Subject: VTR eNews: Newsletter, Web, and Photo Awards Announced Member Update! 2020 Awards - September 7, 2020 VTR Awards Season! Hello fellow Triumph enthusiast and VTR member! As you all know, the North American Triumph Challenge (or the "VTR Convention" as some call it) was cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 virus and State restrictions on large gatherings. Even though we couldn't all meet in person, we're still giving the annual awards for Best Club Newsletters and Best Club Websites. And why not have a photo contest? In mid July, a call for entries was sent out and the entries started coming in. Now, on to the awards... . Newsletter Awards Here are the Newsletter Awards as chosen by the editor of VTR's Magazine, "The Vintage Triumph", Shawn Frank. In no particular order, they are: - The Bulletin of the Triumph Wedge Owners Association - Dzus Dnuz of the Western Pennsylvania Triumph Association - The Standard of the Capital Triumph Register - Snic Braaapp of the Illinois Sports Owners Association (ISOA) - Triumphs & Tribulations of the Minnesota Triumphs Sports Car Club Shawn writes: All of these publications have proven to be fine representations of our love for Triumphs and showcases for the like-minded people with their passion to keep them on the road! They've shared VTR with their members, have released stories and photos worthy of the smiles they bring, and have worked to share and inform others. . Website Awards Here are the Website Award as chosen by VTR webmaster Blake Discher. In no particular order, they are (each club is a link to their website): Georgia Triumph Association Triumphs Around the Chesapeake, Ltd. TRAC Minnesota Triumphs Sports Car Club South Texas Triumph Association Triumph Wedge Owners Association Blake writes: A club's website is the go-to source of information for both members and prospective members about the club and what events and meetings it offers. The sites have come a long way in the last few years. The winning sites offer the ability to join or renew online, have event calendars, and look great on mobile devices. And of course, as an official chapter of VTR, they proudly display VTR's logo on their homepage. . Photo Contest Winners Here are the winners of the photo contest as chosen by automotive photographer Jim Frenak. Jim has shot extensively for General Motors, FCA, Audi, and Volkswagen. A few of his magazine credits include: Motor Trend, Car and Driver, AutoWeek, and Popular Mechanics. Jim writes: The quality of the entries was amazing, it's quite obvious the owners of these beautiful cars are passionate about the car collector hobby and keeping their cars pristine. I don't often get a chance to photograph vintage automobiles so seeing this collection of photography was a delightful change of pace. All three winning shots are outstanding, and the first place photo rivals anything I've seen shot by a pro... good work and congratulations to the winners! 1st place: Barry Connally, Triumph Sports Car Club of San Diego 2nd place: Martin Keller, Central Coast British Car Club 3rd place: Marc Dickson, Texas Triumph Registry Have a question, suggestion, or concern? The sites have come a long way in the last few years. The winning sites offer the ability to join or renew online, have event calendars, and look great on mobile devices. Message-ID: Caution Curves Ahead! On September 19th we will meet at the Shop N Save parking lot just off the Imperial/Oakdale exit of Rt 22/30 (600 Market Place Drive, Oakdale Pa 15071) at 10:00 for this year?s Caution Curves Ahead. The Driver?s Meeting is at 10:15. There is a McDonald?s nearby as well as a Circle K gas station. We will finish at the Bull Pen Rustic Inn (301 Country Park Rd, Avella Pa 15312) at approximately 1:30. Their website is bullpeninn.com. If you prefer to picnic due to COVID 19 then there are really nice facilities in Cross Creek Park which is within a mile or two past the Bull Pen Rustic Inn. The Bull Pen also has take-out if you don?t want to take a picnic basket on the run. The phone number is 724-356- 3000. We will be on the Bull Pen?s deck which can be enclosed if the weather isn?t nice and the deck also allows for social distancing. Temperatures should be a little cooler by mid-September so we can anticipate nice Triumph driving weather. Also, anticipate some fun country roads between the start and the destination. For the most part we will be on lightly traveled country roads with some transition roads to get from one fun country road to another. As the name suggests, there will be a few curves on the route. Well, probably a lot of curves on the route. I?m working really hard to make the directions extremely easy so no one gets lost. With that said, I?m hoping more people will step up and lead groups. You won?t get lost. I would like to keep the groups to five cars as much as possible. It?s safer and easier to keep up with only five cars to a group. But if we end up with larger groups then that is ok also. I?ve designed this run so there are very few signal lights on the course. There are also minimal left turns onto busy roads and we never directly cross a busy road. This will help to keep everyone together in the groups. I?ve had a blast driving around these country roads finding nice twisty roads. So, if you like to drive a little briskly then I think you will really enjoy this run. And if you prefer a leisurely pace then you can put the top down and enjoy the scenery as most of the roads are tree lined with plenty of wildlife roaming about. See you on the 19th. Bench is approx 47? x 28? and the machine is 38? x 18?. It can be taken apart to reduce weight. 110 volts and 11 amp motor. It?s an older model but similar to this https://smithy.com/Smithy-Combo-Lathe-Mill-Midas Here is a write up by an individual who decided to buy this similar model https://www.atm-workshop.com/smithy1220xl.html It can be purchased for approx $1200.00. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I am mildly interested (just because I?ve always wanted one not because I need one). Are any of the WPTA members who are handy with machining interested? Let me know and I?ll make the connection for you. It?s local to me in Hudson, OH and I can pick it up and transport. JVV -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Here is a web page they are maintaining to keep track of the car clubs? donations this year: https://www.pvgp.org/car-clubs-raising-funds-for-pvgp-charities/ In lieu of a meeting, I have a few options to get your feedback: 1. Donate nothing. 2. Depending on funds, make a small contribution directly from WPTA to PVGP. It could understandably be considerably smaller than years past. 3. Hold an event to generate donations. 1 and 2 are easiest/fastest. 3 holds some risks/challenges due to Pandemic/Social distancing restrictions, etc. CALL TO ACTION: Please let me know your thoughts either by responding to this e-mail or contact me directly. Getting the cars out on the road and enjoying them. 2.) Raise money for PVGP by charging people to participate. The impression I got from the tepid response was that we?ve never done that before. I let it drop, as it looked like there was just not much interest in it. My preference would be to do just what PVGP requested the clubs do: Open one of our driving events to other participating clubs. Unfortunately, WPTA has already had two EXCELLENT driving events within the past month, which would have been a perfect opportunity to raise some money for PVGP. We weren?t asked by PVGP to raise a large sum of money???just to raise what we could to keep things going for the PVGP charities. The amount targeted by PVGP is something like $27,500 for the whole shebang. Between Countryside Tour, which raised over $4,000 and events held by the Porsche, Mercedes and BMW clubs, quite a bit (relatively speaking) has already been raised. Heck, the motorcycle guys even hosted a tour, using some of our Countryside Tour roads and raised some money for PVGP. Then, they did it again on 9/19! My suggestion would be that we combine the best features of our two most recent (Rick Brown?s and Gary Fredo?s) events to come up with something that we could market via PVGP. We could charge anywhere between, let?s say $25 and $50 per car and open it up to all of the other clubs which actively support & participate in PVGP. We?d have to start organizing & planning IMMEDIATELY, to get it done in time to enjoy some good October driving weather, but I think we stand a very good chance of having a very successful event. Count me in for whatever we need to do to put on the event. He has a TR3 engine removed from a car he owned over 25 years ago, and has been carrying it about as he progressed through his Navy career. He thinks the engine was bored and polished, but it hasn't been run for many years. Would anyone have interest in purchasing the engine? It has some external corrosion, and he is not thinking it would fetch top dollar. There is also a box of extra parts including some lights and body trim strips, though I don't know what all is in there. I attached photos of the box of parts and the trim strips. There is also a towbar made specifically for towing a Spitfire. He and his wife are planning to move from Solomons, MD to Atlanta in early October, so there isn't much time to effect a transaction. Would appreciate any help you could give in informing your club of it's availability. We have a rough plan in place, but I need to get some details from the PVGP committee to finalize everything. Details soon - tentatively set a bit of time aside for 24 October! >>>> >>>> >>>> Bud Osbourne >>>> >>>> >>>> From: Wpta > On Behalf Of WPTA Secretary/Webmaster via Wpta >>>> Sent: Monday, September 28, 2020 8:24 AM >>>> To: WPTA List > >>>> Subject: [WPTA] PVGP 2020 >>>> >>>> >>>> Hello everyone, >>>> >>>> >>>> I hope you all are getting time to enjoy your British Cars and take in that the leaves are just beginning to turn for Fall! >>>> >>>> >>>> As The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix didn?t happen this year, their committee is trying to find ways to continue to raise money for charitiy.
