Larry ross recently sent an email asking for interest in attending the 2025 Kastner Cup in Lime Rock, CT.
It's always been run over the Labor Day weekend which will be August 29 thru September 2nd.

Lodging is difficult if we want to get close to the track in Lime Rock, so we need to lock something in soon. It will be an Airbnb or something similar from other apps.

No one has responded to Larry's email as of the last conversation I had with Larry. I'm sending another email for a show of interest. Most likely limited to 6 and there are 3 spots taken so far. Bruce, Larry and me.

The drive there and back will likely include some interesting roads and places to see and maybe include a stop in Watkins Glen as that festival is usually the weekend after Labor Day.

So, sign up. If there are more than 6 we'll do our best to find a larger Airbnb, but again the first 6 will be locked in and committed.

Just got back from running the final route check of the "Drivers' Route" and
the roads look pretty good!  We can, pretty much, ignore the "Fresh Oil &
Chips" signs, which are found on the middle third of the route, as the loose
stuff is pretty much gone.

 

Tomorrow, I'll do the "Pie & Ice Cream" route, which will be significantly
shorter.                 Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday
morning, at 240 Southview Road, McDonald, PA 15057.  Drivers' Route drivers
should plan on arriving around 0900 and Pie & Ice Cream drivers should plan
on arriving around 1000.

 

BEER & BULL TONIGHT AT McClelland's Pub, in Cuddy, at 6 PM!  See yinz this
evening!

Boy and don?t I know it!  Lol!  Got a heads-up from Barry Martin, yesterday morning, that PADOT was up to no good on one of the main roads of our tour route.

 

So, back to the drawing board!  I was able to come up with a route only two miles shorter than the one I had, originally, laid out.  I?m generally very happy with it, but there are sections, in the middle third, which have a bit of PADOT gravel remaining on the road.  So, it?s up to you guys h9ow you want to handle that section (the worst part is only a couple of miles long).  Driving a car with a nice paint job, this morning, I was OK with it and I don?t think the paint suffered from the gravel.  The remainder of the middle third, I found just enough gravel to remind me that it?s still there.

 

The Scenery Lovers Route (a.k.a. Pie & Ice Cream route ?) is 41 miles, or just over half the length of the Driver?s Route?s 79 miles and the roads are in beautiful condition.  So, if you want to avoid ALL PADOT gravel, you could do the shorter route and explore some of the roads adjoining the route.  They?re all in pretty good shape and, Google Maps will take you to The Bullpen Rustic Lounge from wherever you might end up.  

 

So, come on out and have some fun, tomorrow!.

I'd like to gauge interest in an impromptu drive Saturday (tomorrow) from
the Zelionople area heading north if the weather forecast remains good.
Currently, Weather.com predicts dry conditions from 10 am through 5 pm
(obviously Mother Nature is precocious and subject to change!).

Tentative plans for a route from Zelie southeast to Evans City on Rt 68
then north on rt 528 (a beautiful drive with lots of trees and curves!),
finishing in Slippery Rock at North Country Brew Pub for lunch. I'm open to
better ideas as well.

If you are interested in getting some miles on the car a week before EJ's
run, let me know. I hope to get mine out as often as possible on every dry
weekend before we finish the season!
