Auction stealer is an interesting concept.  I often find it's best to not bid at all and wait for things to be relisted at increasingly lower opening prices because nobody is bidding  :)  

My other thing is to check saved searches constantly for foolish buy it now prices.  An Airfix MG 1100 kit regularly sells for $100+, but some chump listed one for $19 buy it now... So I did.  Do not trust the "just listed" alerts on eBay, the come way too late.  

My most recent regret is a set of NOS BMC radiator muffs for 90 euro buy it now.  I should have waited for it to be relisted but was too excited.
