www.lemaymuseum.org The LeMay Museum is the largest privately-held collection of vehicles in the US. A sizeable portion of the collection - approximately 600 vehicles - is currently viewable at the interim museum facility at Marymount Academy in Tacoma. The LeMay Collection celebrates America's love affair with the car and spans every decade of the 20th century.
Once a year, the last Saturday in August, the museum and the grounds of the LeMay family house - where 350 additional cars are housed - are opened to the public for the LeMay Annual Car Show. In addition to the LeMay Collection, hundreds of regional car enthusiasts bring their vehicles to display.
The LeMay Museum is currently planning to build a spectacular new 750,000 square foot museum located adjacent to the Tacoma Dome alongside Interstate 5. Groundbreaking is planned for 2006 and a grand opening is anticipated in 2008. See the LeMay Museum website for pictures of the new design.
