I had the head off of my Series IV this past summer for the first
time since I've owned the car, and discovered during the disassembly
that there had been a LOT of wear in the valvetrain due to lack of
oiling. The culprit was the brass T that you mention. I reassembled
the T with some high quality O-rings between the T and the rocker shafts
to improve the seal, and got MUCH better oiling. I really wish I'd
noticed this one sooner...
