Thanks all for the advice on Stromberg tuning. After the rebuild, I
installed the carbs and thought I would fire it up just to see how bad they
were before I tuned them, and too my suprise it started right up.
I took Franks advice and bought a Uni-syn to synch the carbs.
>One way is to use a Uni-syn which is sort of a barometric >flow meter. ...
Available cheap at most foriegn auto supplies.
The auto parts store right around the corner had one, I don't know about
cheap though. I paid $29.95.
When using the Uni-sny, I had to cut part of the sealing surface so that it
would not obstruct the air port to the underside of the diaphragm. Other
than that, it went well.
I haven't tuned the fuel / air mixture yet. For the "rough" tune I screwed
up the jet adjuster until it made contact with with the bottom of the piston
and then screwed it back 2 1/4 turns. Seems to run fine, probably a little
rich though.
